Why the Foundation exists

An institution that shelters, supports and restores independence.

Fondation Machi defends the fundamental rights of women and restores the dignity of survivors of violence. Its response is comprehensive: safe shelter, care, access to legal rights, training and a return to economic independence.

The ambition is national: to become a leading centre in Cameroon for ending violence against women and children, through prevention, shelter, support and help towards independence.

Our work

Four pillars, one chain of protection.

01Emergency & protection
02Legal & judicial
03Empowerment
04Advocacy & culture

The four pillars work together. Someone taken in as an emergency can then be supported legally, then trained, without ever having to tell their story again.

01

Emergency & protection

Safe shelter, emergency medical assistance and specialised care for victims of trauma. This is the entry point to the whole chain.

Supporting victims, making rights easier to access, breaking the silence and fighting impunity.

03

Socio-economic empowerment

Vocational training, reintegration, support for income-generating activities and a way out of cycles of economic dependence.
